EU Publishes New Regulation on Batteries and Waste Batteries
The EU adopted a new regulation that strengthens sustainability rules for batteries and waste batteries on 10 July 2023. The regulation will regulate the entire life cycle of batteries – from production to reuse and recycling – and ensure that they are safe, sustainable and competitive.

European Union Published New Version Standard for Reclined cradles
European standardization bodies can find the revised EN12790 standard applicable to reclined cradles in the CEN library. Now split into two parts (EN12790-1 and EN12790-2), it should be published by all the member states by September 2023 at the latest.

CPSC Issues NPR for Safety Standard for Button Cell or Coin Batteries
On August 16th, 2022, the United States enacted Public Law 117-171, also known as “Reese’s Law,” to require the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to establish a final consumer product safety standard for button cell or coin batteries and consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries, no later than 1 year after the Act’s enactment.
