Türkiye is 7th largest textile products exporter and 4th largest clothing exporter in the world. The Turkish textile industry reached the highest record of all time with an export value of 12.9 billion dollars with an increase of 33.2 in 2021.

Turkey has abundant availability of cotton as a traditional cotton growing country. This extensive growth of cotton provides a main advantage to its textile sector through uninterrupted supply of quality cotton, which is the main raw material required for textile industries.

A survey states that out of Turkeys 1000 biggest manufacturing companies, 228 of them deal in textile, apparel, and carpet business. It is one of the few countries that have an integrated and good capacity of operations.

A large proportion of the textile and apparel goods leaving Turkey arrive in locations inside Europe, with Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain ranking as the top five destinations.

Turkey has the potential to produce almost any type of fabric to be used in ready-to-wear, home textile, upholstery fabric, and other technical applications (especially natural cotton fabric ).

Most of the fabric production in Turkey is obtained from the cotton plant. The cotton-based fabric industry consists of two parts.

One of them consists of large-scale companies. Vertically integrated production facilities in all stages from fiber to fabric production; processing, spinning and weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing workshops. These are production facilities for ready-made products such as clothing or home textiles.

The other is composed of companies that have not been integrated, mainly small and medium scale companies. These companies constitute Turkey’s vital sub-sector branches.
